CASA Jam

CASA JAM is a casual informative session for our many volunteers, veterans, and newbies, to discuss and brainstorm questions and concerns they may have on their CASA case. Issues such as being in a rut with their case, having issues getting in contact with providers or parties on their case, etc. Or a place where volunteers can come and vent. This meeting helps provide answers to our volunteer’s many questions and helps to point them in the right direction.

When people are brainstorming together they feed off of each other's ideas and reach better conclusions on how to solve issues in their cases. We are able to work together to get a CASA child/children to a safe, loving, and permanent home fast! We have theme meetings such as popcorn bars, ice cream bars, etc to show appreciation to our CASA volunteers and have some fun! Our meetings are scheduled once a month.

CASA Day at the Capital

Coastal Plain CASA's Advocacy Coordinator, Julie Mitcham, had a wonderful day celebrating CASA Day at the Capitol in Atlanta, GA. Annually, Georgia CASA hosts CASA Day at the Capitol, which brings CASA volunteers, staff, board members, and supporters to the Capitol to meet and greet with legislators and state-level officials. This event is held one day during the legislative session, which typically runs from January through March.

Kirby Smart Family Foundation!

Our Executive Director, Kristin Morrison, traveled to the land of the Georgia Bulldawgs to have lunch with Coach Kirby Smart and his wife Mary Beth. Coastal Plain CASA was awarded a grant from The Kirby Smart Family Foundation, a donor-advised fund administered by the Athens Area Community Foundation. We are so very thankful for the Smart family and their generosity. This is truly a blessing for our program and the children we serve.
